Shahrukh Khan gets romantic
| Last Updated: March 9, 2015
The actor has romanced his leading ladies in some of the most beautiful locales in the world. As he gets ready to dance with Katrina Kaif on Kashmir’s snowy slopes, we track down a few places he wooed the gorgeous gals…
Shahrukh Khan is returning to his romantic avatar, and what better way to do it than with Katrina Kaif in a Yash Chopra film? The two actors are paired opposite each other for the first time in the as yet untitled film. We also hear that they will shoot a romantic song in Kashmir. Isn’t that sweet? But, hey, Shahrukh is no stranger to romancing his heroines in exotic locations. He has always managed to create magic as he gazes into a lovely lady’s eyes and sings beautiful words, and we know his song with Kat will be just as ethereal. Till we can get a dekho of this new one, we take a look at his previous endeavours…
What: Tujhe dekha to yeh jaana sanam (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge)
With whom: Kajol
Where: Switzerland, London and other parts of Europe
Shahrukh Khan’s Raj meets Kajol’s Simran in the beginning of the song in what is meant to be Punjab, then moves to Switzerland and other parts of Europe they had visited during their trip and then wanders back to Punjab. Impossible, you say? It’s a dream song! Anything can happen in a dream, right?
What: Suraj hua maddham (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham)
With whom: Kajol
Where: At the pyramids, Egypt
SRK, Kajol, Karan Johar and the rest of the cast and crew made Hindi film history when they became the first Bollywood unit to shoot at the pyramids. And what a song it is! Kajol looks the best she’s ever looked and Shahrukh romances with his eyes. The two create a sensual magic that has made the pyramids a must-see destination for even those Indian tourists who are not at all interested in ancient history.
What: Suno na, Tauba tumhare (Chalte Chalte)
With whom: Rani Mukerji
Where: Athens and Mykanos, Greece
Shahrukh’s Raj follows Rani’s Priya all the way to Greece and the only place he can find to woo her is a university! Yes, the song was shot at Athens Academy. If that isn’t funny enough, read this: Tauba tumhare was not only shot at beaches, but also at a church. The Church of Panagia Paraportiani at Mykanos helped build the romance between the two. Talk about divine intervention!
What: Main koi aisa geet gaaon (Yes Boss)
With whom: Juhi Chawla
Shahrukh and Juhi share a chemistry totally different from that SRK has with Kajol, Madhuri Dixit or Rani. The two have filmed several songs on the slopes of Switzerland, but the one we like is shot on the streets of a Swiss city. Shahrukh endears himself to us with his eyes and smile, but we always turn it off before the song ends. Why? ’Cause we hate to see how he litters a clean railway platform with all the things he has collected to woo the lady. If he didn’t want to hang on to them, he could have at least found a dustbin. Tch tch.
What: Pretty woman (Kal Ho Naa Ho)
With whom: Preity Zinta
Where: Brooklyn, New York City, USA
Remember the scene before the song? It’s snowing lightly, yet the very next day, during the song, it is bright and sunny with not a hint of a snowflake anywhere on the streets. The chorus dancers are wearing shorts and summer tops! And don’t even ask how the motley group of local residents who have come together impromptu manage to sync their steps with Shahrukh Khan most of the time and even understand what he is singing in Hindi! The wonders of Bollywood!
What: Jiya jale (Dil Se)
With whom: Preity Zinta
Where: Backwaters of Kerala
Can you imagine Preity playing a Malayali? Mani Ratnam obviously did, as he cast her as Preeti Nair, the bride to be of Shahrukh’s Amar Varma. Amar is a reluctant groom, but that doesn’t stop Preeti from dreaming about the two of them lustily enjoying the backwaters of Kerala. She cavorts in barely-there tops while he bares his chest as the two try sexy poses on small boats. And since at that time Shahrukh didn’t even posses the six pack abs he did in Dard e disco, the less we say about the song sequence, the better.
