Situated between two rocky hillocks on the Alibaug-Murud road, Kashid beach is one of the the best beaches in Konkan region of Maharashtra. Located about 30 km from Alibaug, the beach is a popular weekend holiday destination for residents of Mumbai and Pune.
The beach is known for its clear water and white sandy beach. Casuarina groves line the shoreline.
Another feature of the beach is the high waves. The waves of Kashid beach are usually high and it turns out to be a perfect destination for surfers. The waves rise to a height of 5-6 feet even in non-monsoon season. The beach is considered an ideal place for sunbathing.
Kashid is also a good place for some dolphin spotting. November to January is the best time to see the gentle creatures of the sea. Locals operate ferry services to help tourists spot dolphins in the sea.
Unlike other beaches of Maharashtra, the Kashid beach is less commercialized. As a result, the beach is deserted during weekdays. However, shacks run by locals line the beach and is a good place to taste some local cuisine.
Tourists often club visit to Kashid during a visit to Alibag or Murud. The wildlife sanctuary of Phansad, the marine fort of Janjira and the coastal forts of Korlai, Alibag and Revdanda are situated not far away from Kashid.

There are many accommodation options near the beach. One can find budget, mid-range hotels and resorts near the beach. Rooms are difficult to get during April, May and long weekends. It is advisable to book rooms in advance.
Where to eat
There are multi-cuisine restaurants which serve Indian and Chinese. There are also local food stalls serving poha, missal pav and other snacks.
Best time to visit
Excluding monsoon months, the beach can be visited during any part of the year. Winter months are preferable as during these months, climate remains pleasant and you can indulge in sunbathing.
