Ponmudi Falls: Located about 1.5 km from the hill station, the Ponmudi Falls is famous for the crystal clear water falling from a great height.
Varkala: The seaside resort is also a significant Hindu centre of pilgrimage. The 2,000-year-old Janardana Swamy Temple and the Nature Centre are the two main attractions. The beach is uncrowded and unspoilt.
Agasthyarkoodam: Agasthyarkoodam is the highest peak (1868 m) in Thiruvananthapuram district and is also one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats. It has restricted access and the wilderness of this densely forested region thrills visitors.
Kallar: Kallar is a popular tourist destination at the base of Ponmudi hills. The Golden valley serves as a gateway to the Kallar River or 'the river of stone' and offers trekking options in the adjoining forests. Kallar also serves as a favourite haunt for picnickers and attracts many anglers and birdwatchers. At Kallar, the main attractions are the nearby Golden Valley, and the Meenmutti Falls.
Golden Valley: On the way to Ponmudi is Golden Valley - an ideal place for bathing in the cool, crystal clear mountain stream gushing down the rocks. The picturesque appeal of Golden valley makes it a worth visiting place.
Meenmutty Falls: Located at a distance of about 3 km from the Kallar Main Road, the breathtakingly beautiful waterfall is situated on the trek trail to Agasthyarkoodam. Trekkers have to trek through dense forests to reach the falls. Visiting the falls requires prior permission from the forest department. A guide accompanies visitors. The Kombaikani Waterfalls is located near Meenmutty waterfall.
Orchids and Deer Park: The Orchids and Deer Park, situated few kilometers from Ponmudi, is another key attraction. The widespread tea plantations in Ponmudi that border the winding way uphill, is another sight one cannot afford to miss.
