Kailasa Giri: Famous for the massive idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Kailasa Giri is a popular pilgrim site. Serene beaches like Ramakrishna and Rushikonda near the hillock makes the place more appealing.

War Memorial: Constructed in the memory of ‘Victory at Sea’ after the India-Pakistan war of 1971, War Memorial houses a fighter plane, a tank and a few replicas of missiles. Situated on the Beach Road, War Memorial is an open museum.

Matsyadarshini aquarium: Houses a good collection of fresh water fishes in 20 medium and large tanks. The aquarium is open on all days from 9 am to 7 pm.

Submarine Museum: The submarine INS Kusura has been converted into a museum. Located at Ramakrishna Beach, it is the only submarine museum in Asia.

Naval Museum: Also known as Swarna Jyoti Museum, it was established in 1989. Through pictures, models of warship and other equipments, the Naval Museum depicts the glorious history and heritage of Indian Navy. The museum has five sections – Martime History, Naval Archives, Aquaria, Ocean Resources, and Eastern Seaboard Establishments and Ports. The museum also has artifacts from Indus valley sites.

Buddhist Excavations: Various places in and around Visakhapatnam were thriving centres of Buddhism during the 2nd century. Excavations in 1906 brought out these places in Bhatvi Konda, Bojjana Konda, Thotla Konda, etc. These excavated Buddhist sites are popular tourist attractions.

Beaches: Visakhapatnam has some of the most amazing beaches in the country. Beaches like Ramakrishna Beach, Lawson’s Bay Beach, Rushikonda Beach, Gangavaram Beach, Yarada Beach and Kondakarla Ava Beach are some of the most popular tourist spots in the city.

Dolphin’s Nose: One of the most famous tourist attractions in the city, Dolphin’s Nose is a gigantic 174 metre high rock structure resembling a dolphin’s nose. Tourists can get a panoramic view of the city from Dolphin’s Nose.

Jagdamba Centre and Indira Gandhi Zoological Park are other places worth seeing in Visakhapatnam.
